Honor Your Father & Mother…

So I think this is a hard one…

I feel like I had this one down, then I actually looked at it and realize I’m not the best at this one either.

I Love my Mom and Dad so much I have a good relationship with them. But honoring them is something different and something much more intensive and introspective.

It can be seen very easily by how you treat them. Are you rude? Are you mean? Do you talk back? Do you do what they ask? I don’t know cause I think that all of us most of the time are looking at what our parents are doing wrong and what we dislike about them rather than seeing the blessing that they have been to us.

I’ve come to a huge realization recently with our parents. They did a really good job!

I mean there has been so many things that I realize that because of my mom especially I have been saved from. Same with Sarah (my wife).

We always see the things that are wrong with our parents or see the things that we don’t like, but if we really look back at our lives often, or for most of us, we have had really good parents that want the best for us.

I mean if it wasn’t for our parents we wouldn’t be walking with God in the way that we are right now, and we definitely would not be as happy as we are, because without God we would be lost and alone. They have given us the greatest gift, they brought is up in the knowledge of Christ.

In many peoples lives there isn’t the blessing of Christian parents. We had them and we were loved by them and raised by them to get us where we are now.

But Christian or not we always see the problems with our parents because I believe that we, children, are suppose to start in life where our parents end and move forward from there. We will always see the issues because we are called to do bigger better things, but often we get caught up in the problems from life and childhood and we then are stunted and held back because we don’t honor our parents.

To honor our parents we have to look at the positives from life. We need to stop focusing on the negative things and realize that the way we honor our parents is the way our kids will honor us and that for our kids to be able to move forward from our lives they must honor their parents… us.

Parents screw up, a lot. I mean I’ve only been a parent for about three years now and I mess up all the time. Really sometimes I just don’t understand how dumb I am. It was the same for my parents. They did things that were dumb, and things that hurt us whether it be emotionally or physically or however but the end result is that they birthed us, and gave us life.

For some of you honoring your parents starts with forgiving them. Some of you have been hurt and that is legitimate. It isn’t made up or over exaggerated but it’s is actual legitimate hurt. Past all of the hurt, if there is forgiveness there is honor.

K so I’m starting to ramble on a bit but you get the picture. Find out what you need to do to honor your parents and I guarantee that if you do that you will be projected forward in your walk with God as well as your walk in life. Just remember when you become a parent that your a screwup too and we all need to…

Blowing my Nose…

K so I have a weird analogy of the purification process that God puts us through.

So often we spend our days trying to make ourselves ‘feel better’. Imagine having a cold at this very moment. You know when your nose is running like a fountain and your trying to just go through your day because although you don’t feel aweful you really don’t feel great either but there is stuff to do so we go about our day.

Our body is fighting an infection that is taking place inside, and one of the ways of trying to flush the infection out is through the mucis that is flowing from your nose. As your day goes on it starts to get really frustrating trying to blow your nose every two or maybe even every one minute in order to not have snot all over your face.

What I do is I start to get frustrated and I get to busy to go and find a kleenex every couple minutes so what do I do…. I start to sniff it up.

Well this is doing two things for me. One is it’s actually stopping the snot from coming out all over my face, which is a plus cause I don’t want anyone to see the snot, it’s gross and dirty and just isn’t nice at all. The other thing it’s doing is that it’s delaying my infection from being able to leave my body.

Without thinking about it or realizing it I’m actually being counter productive to what my body is trying to do. What it also begins to do if you do to much of it is it will cause your sinus’ to be stuffed which in turn will cause one massive or very irritating headache.

We do this all the time in our walk with God. God is trying to fight the infection that is within us. This is really for the Christians out there, because when you ask God into your heart he’s there and he will be constantly trying to get rid of the infection of the world and Satan as they try to cause you to be sluggish, slow, tired, and just sick.

God is trying to get the infection out of you and so many times because we are moving to fast we just give a little sniff cause we don’t have the time to actually go and blow, so we can get it out. Or even we don’t want to go and blow.

Maybe you won’t slow down and you know that you should be sniffing because God is trying to get this out of you but you just don’t want anyone to see what is happening in your life. The infection is gross and dirty and if people knew they would stay away cause they wouldn’t want to catch it.

BLOW YOUR NOSE!

Lastly we do something else that many times will take the edge off of the sickness and it helps us to feel better even though it’s not causing the infection to get out. We take our worldly supply of antihistamines and decongestants. That could be anything,  food, TV, movies, sex, drugs, alcohol, clothes. What do you use to ease the pain, to take the edge off.

So many times when we are popping pills to take a cold away what it’s actually doing is serpressing what your body is naturally doing to get the infection out. It takes the symptoms away but the infection stays in us growing and growing until it floors us and we can’t get out of bed or do anything really.

This is what our worldly “drugs” do. They take the edge off of the hurts and the pains, they take the symptoms of pain away but it’s allowing the infection to grow.

Is your infection growing in your right now? Have you been doing anything to allow your infection to be worked out of you? Have you been too busy to blow so instead your sniffing it up, and you feel the headache coming? Don’t take the drugs and stop sniffing, feel sick and blow and as you allow God to get it out of you your health is coming. Healing is coming!
